Dining and Picnicking in Yosemite

You won't go hungry while visiting the Yosemite area although dining can be pricey. In the park a range of choices include the acclaimed dining room at the Ahwanee Hotel to the Food Court at Yosemite Lodge. Just outside the park on CA 140 is a local favorite the Café at the Bug. Erna's Elderberry House is a well-known eatery in Oakhurst. There are a few excellent dining choices in Mariposa including the Charles Street Dinner House, Savoury's and the Happy Burger Diner.
The best place to get picnic supplies in the valley is the Yosemite Village Store, and it has an ATM. Nearby, the Village Sport Shop has fishing, camping, and other gear. There are also several small convenience stores located throughout the park. Just outside the El Portal entrance, is the well-stocked El Portal Food Market. A good selection of groceries may be found in Mariposa plus a deli at the Pioneer Market, behind the rest area. The choice for a grocery store in Oakhurst is Railey's. For better selection and prices, stop at the major supermarkets in Merced or Fresno, the largest cities in the park vicinity.
