Innkeeper's Story
presenting
Captain for the Captain's Inn
from Captain's Inn at Moss Landing

The Captain's Inn at Moss Landing is owned by Captain Yohn and
Melanie Gideon. As your hosts, they want their inn to be your
getaway where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views and
wildlife in the area. They rennovated the Pacific Coast Steamship
Company in great detail to share with visitors, and built the
boathouse so their guests can take full advantage overlooking the
marshlands.
Melanie is from the local area and loves to share the many special
places Monterey Bay and Moss Landing has to offer. She knows
many fun stories of local history and can identify most wildlife. As a
girl, she would go by the building and dream of restoring the
building. Several of the generous recipes served at the inn were
based on her grandmothers' and family traditions.
Originally from Nebraska, Captain Yohn is a certified U.S. Coast
Guard Captain who operates Elkhorn Slough Safari Nature Boat
Tours daily to see the wonders of one of California's largest
wetlands. He also officiates at weddings.
The Captain and his wife live on the Inn property with their two
children. The family's quarters are in a building separate from our
guests.
