Dawn gave up business administration and wanted a bed and breakfast in Wisconsin between Belleville and Madison. Gary retired from banking and real estate and wanted a small cabin overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Cameo Rose is "their" compromise.
Dawn dreamed of operating a B and B for many years. Gary use to sit at the bank and real estate office and dream of retiring early to clean house all day. Dawn has made it possible for Gary's dream to come true. In graditude, Gary wrote a song to honor Dawn’s 15th year (2006) as a hard working innkeeper. You may sing it to the tune of Johnny Cash’s ‘I Walk the Line’.
I DO THE TIME
She wants a big house for a B and B.
I want a cabin… and to see the sea.
I made up plans… now do not be surprised.
Because she’s mine… “we” compromised!
Lent her a million for her BnB.
"If I help"... she says she can repay me.
Now do it all... no payments do I see.
Because she's mine... I work for free!
I do the dirty dishes all the time.
I scrub the tubs and showers and de-lime.
I keep my eyes wide open for the grime.
Because she’s mine… I tow the line.
I mow the trails from morning until night.
Avoiding cleaning makes it a real delight.
I sweep the walk and porch with all my might.
Because she’s mine… I do not fight.
I greet the guests with smiles that are sublime.
I clean the toilets and what guests leave behind.
I mop the floors and work and do not whine.
Because she’s mine… not paid a dime.
I do the make-work that she thinks is fine.
I’ll do it all until I’m ninety-nine.
I do the work, although I did no crime.
Because she’s mine… I do the time!
