Innkeeper's Story
presenting
In 6 years we have come along way....
from The Woodstocker Inn
D2 moved from London England in 2005 and took over the Woodstocker Inn. We immediately started to create a style that was refreshing, European and organic. We wanted to drag our B & B into the 21st century but yet have great sympathy for the planet and customer care. We demolished, we painted, we plumbed and over the next 3 years totally refitted our inn. We revealed walls and floors and brought tubs all the way from Italy. We laid radiant heat and converted to propane. We reduced the inns energy costs by 25% and we painted the outside a very bright yellow!
In our past lives in publishing we had consumed a lot of hospitality all over the globe, often at our employers expense, and we were often left underwhelmed. We felt that the overall standards of many lodging establishments were always going for the lowest common denominator. We also wanted to create an eco friendly establishment that used many local and organic suppliers. We also wanted to rescue a dog...as every home needs a pet! Our desired breed was to be a wheaten terrier as they have hair not fur, and don't shed. Our first rescue was our old lady Stanley, who sadly passed on in October 08. We how have Daisy Doo...thus D2 are D3!
Five years later we have been granted Green Cards as 'Aliens of Extraordinary Ability'& been acknowledged with national and international awards. The challenge is now to keep up our standards and practice our mantra....'undersell and over deliver'.
