bed and breakfast story photo of Herb & Amy Behm

Pueblo Bonito b&b's property dates back over 150 yrs. Originally built as a circuit judges home in the 1880’s- complete with stables, servants quarters and Indian bread horno- its authentic construction boasts of foot thick adobe (mud brick) walls, viga (wooden beam) ceilings, kiva fireplaces and cultural nichos (carved out spaces in walls used to place patron saints of the Catholic faith). Sold in the early 1930’s to a gentleman from New York (Al Kempenick) who converted the prestigious property into apartments- naming them “Pueblo Bonito” after the famous ruins of Chaco Canyon. Each room was named after an area Indian tribe for which the tradition continues today. In 1973, the Winter family acquired the starving artists complex and in 1986 Amy & Herb Behm moved from Dallas Tx to turn the family owned property into the b&b we enjoy today. 25+ years of providing warm hospitality to Santa Fe visitors seems to come naturally for this family. They welcome you to thier delightful city and invite you to stay with them at Pueblo Bonito bed & breakfast inn!
