A Perfect Transitional Retirement

from Inn at Onancock Inn

bed and breakfast story photo of Kris & Lisa

We have talked about opening a bed and breakfast for
the last 15 years, but only began pursuing it
seriously in 2004.

It seemed a perfect transitional retirement. A bed
and breakfast was the ideal combination of our
passions and skills. We enjoy traveling and making
new friends and in combination with our love of good
food and wine, a b&b was the perfect match.

Kris retired in March with nearly 35 years working
for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. An avid
freshwater fisherman, he’s looking forward to
practicing his skills and learning new ones on the
Chesapeake Bay and seaside.
Lisa’s professional training as a cook with 10 years
of experience as caterer, pastry chef and chef, sets
the stage for sumptuous breakfasts, hors d’oeuvre,
and light refreshments for The Inn’s guests. Most
recently, she worked in marketing and communications
for a nonprofit organization in Washington, DC.

Now that our three children have moved out to pursue
their own goals, we are ready to embark on the next
adventure in our 35-year marriage.
