Anthony J. Raimondi, M.D., was a very famous pioneer in the field of pediatric neurosurgery, born in Chicago, but of Italian origin. Wine was his great passion. When he retired, we settled in Verona, Italy. The dream to make wine then turned into reality in 1989 when we had our very first vintage. Initially, we only produced for ourselves, making the wine personally, book in hand, and having a lot of fun.

In 1993, working together with an enologist, we started marketing our wines by releasing the 1991 vintage. Today, in addition to our own vineyard, we rent or manage seven other hectares in the territory of Saint'Ambrogio di Valpolicella. My husband passed away in the year 2000. Since then, I have carried on with our project.

Monteleone is not just a dream, but also a great love story. We lived a beautiful and intense relationship, both in work and our personal lives. My heart’s desire to continue producing wine is my way of feeling we are still working together.

Three years ago, I started running a 3 bedroom B&B. Villa Monteleone was built over a period of three centuries, from the 17th to 19th, with a park which is a national monument, and its own one-hectare vineyard. Customers at the estate are almost all foreigners, visiting the Lake Garda area or coming via our importers. They are mostly wine lovers from all over Europe and America who, during their itineraries, stop here to taste and buy our wines. The B&B is listed on the main Internet sites dedicated to B&B in England, Italy and in a reputable American guide. Visitors find a “green lung” area here, a marvelous and tranquil place close to Verona and Lake Garda.
