In 1985, a newly wedded couple decided to make the California Foothills Gold Country their home. They searched for property and found ten acres near Placerville. In their eyes the site had potential: the property had an abundance of rocks, water and a solid old barn. Captivated by the barn’s spacious open interiors, and inspired by the aesthetic spirit of California, the couple took on a project that seems to continually grow in scope and vision. Their wonderful adventure has not just transformed a barn into a beautiful home, but a rocky abused landscape into a garden estate. The home and gardens have been featured many times on the El Dorado County garden tour. Mark and Gayle delight in sharing their beautiful creation with others
