Meet the Owners
from Spruce Moose Lodge & Cottages Inn
The Innkeepers have experience as proprietors in the
food business. They sold their very successful shop
of eleven years, Hot Rize Bagel Café, in Merrimack
New Hampshire. They began the business from scratch
and bought the four unit mall building in which it
is still located, five years ago.
Leon, a graduate of Franklin Pierce College and
formerly a lithographer, designed and ran the café
from its inception. His wife Nellie, graduated from
Smith College with a Master’s in Education from the
University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She was
formerly a Biology teacher for sixteen years at
Brookline High School in MA. Nellie helped Leon
during the early years and had joined him as a full
time Hot Rize manager five years ago. They bring
their expertise in the food industry along with a
great deal of heart and discipline.
