Innkeeper's Story

Meet Your Innkeepers

from Cameron Park Inn B&B

bed and breakfast story photo of Nikki D

Jon and Nikki met over a decade ago at an animal
hospital just down the road from the Inn. Jon was
a new veterinarian and Nikki was a receptionist.A
few years later they married and discovered that
they both had a passion for big projects. Only a
month before their wedding, they opened Magnolia
Animal Hospital on Capital Blvd.
Their latest "big project" is becoming Bed and
Breakfast owners. It had been in their plans for
years. They intended to retire from their animal
hospital after 10 years and purchase a B&B. Until
then, Nikki researched the subject and the two
even attended a conference in Cape May, N.J. for
B&B owners. Jon and Nikki had imagined opening up
a B&B in Savannah but as plans tend to do, this
one took a bit of a detour. When Cameron Park Inn
became available, everything fell into place.
Nikki fell in love with the beautiful old home
and, almost instantly, the couple became B&B
owners!

Cat Allergies Alert:
For those with cat allergies, while there is no
longer a cat in residence, one has lived at the
inn as recently as 2009.
People often ask Nikki if she has done anything
like running an Inn before. Heranswer is always,
"Yes, but not for people!"

Jon and Nikki are serious animal lovers. As well
as caring for animals in their hospital, they have
some pretty special pets of their own. In fact,
during your stay at the inn you may see Beanie,
the dog.

Through the work of a local rescue group, Jon
performed surgery on Beanie's front legs to
correct a deformity. The surgery went very well
but as she was recovering, her heart stopped.
Thankfully, Jon and the staff were able to revive
her. Jon really fell in love with her. He and
Nikki were concerned that she would be hard to
place in a home because of her health problems.
They decided to foster her for a while. After only
one day this sweet, happy girl had made a
permanent place for herself in their home and in
their hearts. Her leg problems have not held her
back at all. She loves to run around and play with
toys.

Jon and Nikki invite you to step into the charming
world they have created at Cameron Park Inn and
take advantage of their dream-come-true!
