Innkeeper's Story
presenting
Ona Barnet
from Rock Gardens Inn

Ona grew up in New York, New York; daughter of
artist Will Barnet and social worker Elena Barnet.
Prior to running the Inn, Ona recieved her Master's
Degree in Early Childhood Education, and co-founded
the Childrens' Museum of New Hampshire with Denise
Doleac. She came to Rock Gardens Inn in 1984, and
has been welcoming guests ever since. Changes that
she has instituted during her time as Innkeeper
include: numerous updates and improvements to
cottages, while maintaining the classic feel of a
coastal Maine Inn; a return of artist retreats and
art workshops to the Inn; installation of a swimming
pool; creation of a cookout area in Darling Park;
addition of Contra Dances to the activities
available at the Inn; among many others. For Ona the
guests who return summer after summer are like an
extended family, to which every new guest is a
potential addition.
