Meet the Innkeepers

from Hodgdon Island Inn

bed and breakfast story photo of Pamela & Richard Riley

Pamela and Richard Riley first came to Maine on
their honeymoon many years ago. After that
memorable visit they began to daydream about
relocating to Maine someday and owning a bed &
breakfast inn.

Dreams became reality in 2009 when they bought the
Hodgdon Island Inn and promptly set about bringing
a Boothbay area landmark back to life. They left
behind their families, friends and careers (Pamela
was a non-profit executive and fund-raiser;
Richard an artist and photographer) and their “Old
Kentucky Home” (literally and figuratively – it
was a stone house built in 1817 and on the
National Register of Historic Places) to come to a
magic place that would provide rest and relaxation
for guests longing to escape the ordinary,
celebrate special occasions or looking to explore
natures’ wonders. They found it all in Boothbay,
Maine after searching the Maine coast from Kittery
to Eastport. The picture perfect Maine postcard –
a lovely old home with a history connected to the
area, quaint seaside villages, boats of all shapes
and sizes, lobster pounds, crashing surf,
lighthouses, festivals on the town green and all
the wonders that mid-coast Maine has to offer.
Richard and Pamela are very passionate about the
wonderful history of the Hodgdon Family for whom
the house and the island are named and all the
Boothbay Region has to offer guests who visit.

As your hosts, their specialty is personalized
service, delicious breakfasts, and hands-on
attention when needed to create a relaxing
getaway, casually elegant yet comfortable in a
place of rest, retreat and memories. Whether you
want to experience the numerous activities found
nearby, take a dip in the Inn’s heated in-ground
pool, sit and read that special book on their
porch overlooking the garden and the water, get
reacquainted with that special person in your
life, or dine in one of the area’s wonderful
restaurants, Pamela and Richard’s goal is to make
your stay at the Hodgdon Island Inn your best
ever.
