Innkeeper's Story
presenting
Your Hosts
from 5 Lakes Lodge Inn

In 2001, after 15 years of owning and operating a
beautiful campground, we decided to sell our park
and try something that we had dreamed of...running
a bed and breakfast. In that same year we were
fortunate enough to make a once-in-a-lifetime
purchase of a gorgeous peninsula upon which we
would build our dream, 5 Lakes Lodge.
The site had been the home of a small waterfront
store and marina since 1962. In the 30's and 40's
it was home to a huge sawmill. Anyway, during the
summer of 2002 we tore down or moved all of the
original structures and started construction of
the lodge. The project took on a life of it's own
and nearly consumed us for two years. But we
persevered and finally, in July of 2004, we opened
our doors and greeted our first guests.
Having been in the hospitality business since 1987
(with our campground, a motel and a canoe
outfitting business) we feel that we really know
how to help our guests discover the beauty and
magic of where we call home, Maine's Katahdin
Region. We were both born and raised here - we
grew up on a small lake about 6 miles from the
lodge (but never knew each other !) and being true
"locals" (highly unusual in the B & B industry) we
know the area by heart. And, not wanting to sound
too "mushy", this is where our hearts are! We love
our little piece of heaven and know that you will
too.
We're both very active and love the out of doors.
In our "spare time" we enjoy canoeing, kayaking,
fishing, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, looking for
moose, grooming sled trails......if it gets us
onto the water or into the woods, we love doing
it.
Stop by and let us show you, "The Way Life Should
Be"!
Tell your hosts Pamela Lanier sent you!
