bed and breakfast story photo of Roberta & Claudio Latanza

We are natives of Italy.

We married in 1995 and since, travelled to the US almost every year.

Our very first trip to Arizona in 1996, made us fall in love with its stunning landscape. Instantly we felt great respect for the American way of life. The more we travelled throughout the country, the more we felt at home. We discovered our love for the American B&B's and soon it became for us the only way to travel throughout this gorgeous country.
Once back in Rome, we made up our minds, we wanted to move to the US and fulfill our dream, by owning our own B&B.

The decision was taken on our first trip to New England in 2003. We soon understood why Maine's motto is "Vacationland" and we immediately felt that this was the country and the place where we wanted to live and settle down.

Roberta was born in Milan, north of Italy while Claudio was born in Taranto, south of Italy. Guess where we met and lived? Rome, right in the center!

Roberta graduated with Honors from the prestigious German School in Milan and moved to Rome 20 years ago. For many years she forged an excellent career in the Insurance business, then moved into real estate management. She is fluent in English, German and, of course, Italian. Roberta displays her great taste in interior design, through detailing and being a wonderful host, be it friends, business associates and/or guests. She is a passionate gardener.

Claudio moved to Rome as little child. A young man, him and his best friend started a publishing company. Together they edited the Italian Hotel Directory, a prestigious guide of over 34,000 hotels, which became highly regarded throughout of Europe. Having sold the business to the Italian Yellow Pages, Claudio moved to Florence as executive manager for a company involved in the distribution of communications support material, first in Italy, a company that supplied all major Italian brands. He is fluent in English, Spanish and (of course again) Italian and has a small knowledge of French.

The Camden Maine Stay has a long history of making guests feel at home. Frommer's characterizes it as, "genuine hospitality."

As newly arrived to this fantastic location, we enjoy the warmth and encouragement of our local people and hope to share the great tradition of the Maine Stay Inn with all our very welcomed guests.
