My sister, Gloria Miller and myself, Sherry Ruby
plus my husband Bob Adamec came to the Jersey
Shore for summer relaxation when we all lived
together in New York City. We are all high-tech
systems people and our careers were going full
blast. We loved the shore and decided in 1992 that
we needed to provide for our retirement so we
bought our house as an investment and turned it
into a Bed & Breakfast. We lived in the house, all
handled full time jobs and ran the B&B with the
help of staff for the past 17 years.
Now we are ready to retire, but know that 4 rooms
will not support all of us, so we are looking to
add on more rooms and then retire to just being
B&B owners. Over the years we have hosted many
interesting guests including rock star Rick
Derringer ("Hang on Sloopy"), a handful of
professional football players and even movie
producers.
We had a young man that tended our fish pond and
one day he got a call from Malcolm Forbes to come
to his home. He needed someone to tend his pond.
The young man asked how he heard about his skills
and Mr. Forbes said "We have stayed at SeaScape
Manor!". They had stayed under different names
and we never even knew they were our guests. Of
course we are always discreet about who is staying
with us and allow people privacy even when we know
who is staying.
One of things we enjoy most are our returning
guests. It is so great to have them come back and
we catch up on each others lives.
We are very active in our communities, Sherry was
a Council member for 4 years and Gloria has been
on the Housing Authority for ten years most of
that time she has been the chairman.
