Innkeeper's Story

We grew up in Central Wisconsin (yes…Go Pack Go!
We are official owners of the Pack but of course
we welcome and love all sports or non-sports
fans!) We became high school sweethearts, now
married for 26 years. Shortly after getting
married and while living in Madison, WI; Tim
enlisted in the US Air Force and we were stationed
in Marquette, Michigan giving us our first “taste”
of Lake Superior. After finishing his bachelor’s
degree in Marquette, Tim became an officer
spending the next several years stationed out west
in California, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska;
finally taking a final “retirement” assignment at
UMD in June of 2005. And happily bringing us back
to the Midwest and spectacular Lake Superior!

During those years in the Air Force, we developed
a passion for buying, restoring, and decorating
historic homes in the communities that we lived;
starting with a tiny historic home in Rapid City,
to a magnificent Colonial in Iowa. We also spent
many vacations staying in Bed and Breakfast Inns
across the country, developing a love for a warm
and inviting place to stay and be pampered. And we
developed an appreciation for the Innkeepers who
made their guests feel like the most important
people in the world; a thoroughly unique
experience from a hotel stay! From our first
experience at a Bed and Breakfast, Angie knew she
would be an Innkeeper someday! So, as we reached
the end of the Air Force career, it made sense to
meld our passions, and our love for the city of
Duluth! We took the leap to buy the incredibly
beautiful A G Thomson House; a Duluth MN Bed and
Breakfast Inn, in August of 2007.

Our time as Innkeepers has really flown by and yet
it seems like yesterday that we became the proud
owners of the A G Thomson House; our Duluth MN Bed
and Breakfast! We have spent our entire time
rebuilding the reputation of this wonderful place,
along with improving all aspects of the Inn from
the exterior to the interior, the amenities
offered, and the genuine hospitality that we share
with our guests. We have given our Inn and home a
new life and new feel and we couldn’t be more
proud of our accomplishments. We have listened to
and learned from our guests and have been told
we’ve thought of everything to make their stay at
the A G Thomson House exceed their expectations.
We will continue to listen and learn; our sole
purpose as Innkeepers is to ensure our guests are
pampered and provided an inviting and warm
atmosphere to relax, unwind and reconnect; just
like we felt on our first Bed and Breakfast stay!
We are incredibly grateful to be able share this
amazing home and grounds, and of course, allowing
us the opportunity to live in an area, community,
and city of unparalleled beauty and kindness.

We thank our family and friends for their
incredible support! And we thank all of the
wonderful guests that have chosen to share their
valuable time and resources with us; many of whom
have become our new friends. We have a sign over
the sunroom door that says “Enter as Strangers,
Leave as Friends.” We have been lucky enough to
make new friends every day! Thank you and welcome
home to the new A G Thomson House!
