South Haven, MI bed and breakfast: Yelton Manor B&B & The Manor Guest House
Yelton Manor B&B & The Manor Guest House
South Haven, MI

Elaine and Robert, innkeepers of Yelton Manor B&B and self-described “corporate escapees”, began scheming about opening a bed and breakfast in the early ‘80s. The dream of working together, building and renovating, cooking, gardening and entertaining inspired them. Although neither had ever stayed in a B&B, they imagined a hospitality quite different from the standard “Mom and Pop B&B” of the time. They wanted to create a rich, warm experience, a retreat for mind, body and soul.

They believed that location and luxury were key elements so they built two spectacular Victorian mansions, side by side, steps to the Lake Michigan beach and loaded with unprecedented lodging pleasures. The inn boasts a huge library (1000s of beautiful books and movies), gorgeous decor, relaxing pleasures and fabulous food. Luxury is maintained constantly, with premium bedding, linens and personal products, plus a never-ending focus on absolute cleanliness. The inn's extravagant perennial garden, which surrounds on all sides, has won numerous awards.

In addition to the garden, fresh, healthy and delicious food is Elaine's passion. Dedicated to making food prepared with love and that delights all the senses, the inn serves up fabulous sweet treats as well as healthy, gourmet cuisine. The Manor's location in the fruit and farm belt of Michigan provides daily opportunity for spectacular freshness and unequaled quality at the table.

Elaine and Robert have been sharing their beautiful inn and personal service with nearly 400,000 guests over the decades. They are grateful to their staff of dedicated innkeepers and housekeepers who have been with Yelton Manor for most of the inn's 23 years. Even the original support people, from the plumber to the roofer to the mailman, are a part of this close knit family and contribute to the goal of excellence with the inn's ministry. "We serve up JOY", Elaine says, "And it comes around full circle to us every day!"
