Princess Anne, Maryland bed and breakfast: Somerset House B&B

The Somerset House is decorated with period furnishings and offers 6 rooms within the two houses on the estate. Our two most elegant rooms feature twelve-foot ceilings, antique queen-size beds, fireplaces and private baths, one with private sauna.

Elegant gardens include an English boxwood parterre and antique roses. Enjoy afternoon refreshments, or try your hand at bocce or croquet on the bowling lawn.

Wake up each morning to fresh coffee waiting for you outside your room, then join us in the dining room for a delicious breakfast, made fresh in our kitchens.

We serve a full breakfast, including an exquisite selection of English breakfast breads and American cuisine with a Southern influence.

Somerset House is one of the important gable front dwellings built in Princess Anne during the early to mid nineteenth century. The rear section (formerly the Cheney House c.1750) is one of Princess Anne's dwellings from the Colonial period. The house was built by U.S. Congressman John Woodland Crisfield, who was President of the Eastern Shore Railroad Company and was the force behind bringing the spur line to a little community down the road then known as Somers Cove. The town changed its name in his honor, to Crisfield.

Enjoy the Princess Anne Boxwood Garden, c. 1850, credited to General George Handy, which is just across the street and easily viewed from the bedrooms.
