Bed and Breakfast Description

An 1870 Second Empire house located on the last non-commercial historic main street in Connecticut. Two suites and one bedroom, all with private bathrooms. Eight acres of land with a swimming pool. Guests at Spencer On Main enjoy the fresh scent of fine linen, the comfort of the canopy beds and the coziness of the lush bathrobes. Each guestroom has cable TV, DVD/VCR, stereo system, wireless Internet access and central A/C. The gourmet breakfasts blend Belgium and American traditional recipes. Free pickup provided to and from Bradley International airport and Windsor Locks Amtrak station.

The new sidewalks of Main Street are a great place to walk or run and the 8-acre garden, the large screened porch of Spencer On Main are ideal spots to relax after a busy day.

Suffield remains one of the few towns in New England that is still home to descendants of some of its founding fathers. Caroline is related to three of Suffield's original founding families. As a result, the house proudly displays paintings, photographs, and other memorabilia that date back to the early history of the town.

Area Attractions and Activities:

The town and its surrounding areas offer many attractions. Suffield has two museums; the Hathaway House and the King House. Both museums are in the neighborhood of the B&B. The airplane lover will find an impressive collection of over 80 aircraft at the nearby New England Air Museum, The Old Newgate prison is only minutes away and offers one of the most spectacular views of the area on top of its historic interest.

Suffield is only 20 minutes away from Hartford and Springfield. Both towns have several museums, including the Wadsworth Atheneum, the first fine arts museum in the U.S.

The Berkshire Mountains are an hour drive and offer a large variety of cultural events during the summer months. The most famous of these events is the Tanglewood Festival that runs from the end of June until the beginning of September.
