![]() Magnificently situated in Marblehead's historic old town and overlooking the entrance to its picturesque harbor, this Victorian-era home has been fully restored to offer the very best in bed-and-breakfast accommodations. Common amenities include a sitting area with fireplace, kitchen, and roof deck with dazzling ocean and harbor views. The three guest rooms at Oceanwatch are newly redecorated in 2006, and have been tastefully furnished in keeping with the period and style of the house. Two of the king-bed rooms are on the third floor, while the third king is on the second floor. The Cottage at Oceanwatch is a little gem, a snug and cozy hideaway surrounded by lovely gardens and looking out on the sometimes serene, and sometimes wild, but always beautiful Atlantic Ocean. The second floor bedroom with king bed is fully equipped with heat, air conditioning, a full bath with jacuzzi, and a kitchenette. The upper level has an open floor plan. The lower level has a seating area with TV outlet, a kitchenette with dishwasher, and a full bath with jacuzzi tub. Enjoy a continental breakfast of fresh croissants from our local bakery, muffins, cereal, juices and fruit, with tea and fresh-ground coffee; during the good weather, most guests choose to enjoy breakfast at the individual tables on the roof deck, which affords breathtaking views to Gloucester and Cape Ann. Area Attractions and Activities: Adjacent to Oceanwatch is Fort Sewall, built in 1742. It is perhaps best known for giving shelter beneath its guns to the Constitution during the War of 1812; that visit was re-enacted in 1997 when Old Ironsides sailed for the first time in over 100 years, from Boston to Marblehead. Immediately below Oceanwatch is Fort Beach, in a beautiful and sheltered small cove that is perfect for children to swim, play in the sand or explore the rocks. Many local lobstermen and boaters keep dinghys here, using tow lines to bring them in for boarding. Opposite Fort Beach, on the Little Harbor side of the causeway leading to Oceanwatch, is a small beach that can be reached without coping with stairs or seawall. It is ideal for launching dinghys, kayaks, or other small craft. Area attractions include historic sites, whale-watching trips, antique shops, scuba diving, and beaches. Services: Sitting room, fireplaces, cable TV, beach, ocean-front park, deck Most Popular Rooms: The Cottage: Beautiful ocean views, Jacuzzi and gas fireplace.
