The Katy House B&B has been lovingly restored to its original beauty, keeping the guests' comfort and convenience in mind. Choose from five unique guest accommodations. All guest rooms offer a queen-sized bed and private bathroom. A delicious, full country breakfast is served in the main dining room every morning.

While staying at the Katy House B&B, you will be able to enjoy all Smithville and Bastrop County, Texas, have to offer, including: golfing, walking or biking tours, and historical sites. Lake Bastrop, Bastrop State Park and Buescher State Park are only minutes away and offer several additional recreational activities such as boating, swimming and picnicking.

Smithville is located in the heart and soul of Central Texas. The quiet, country town is a 45-minute drive from Austin and about a two-hour drive from either San Antonio or Houston. Located off Highway 71, one of the prettiest springtime drives in the Texas foothill country, Smithville is accessible by car or small plane. Built as a railroad town in the 1880's, trains still travel daily through Smithville, but no longer offer a passenger service.



Area Attractions and Activities:

Smithville is a city of beautiful old historic neighborhoods and tree-lined streets. The area offers everything from recreation and relaxation, to shopping and sightseeing.

Along Main Street, many old businesses, office buildings and homes have been restored to their original appearance. You'll enjoy exploring the antique and craft shops, both in town and in other nearby towns of the countryside.

Wonderful parks for hiking and biking are nearby. Local restaurant, the Back Door offers great dining and a block away from the B&B. Pockets Grill has the best Beer Battered Onion Rings and burgers. Zimmerhanzel's Bar-B-Que is excellant and it is real Texas Bar-b-que.
Smithville is between Bastrop and LaGrange and is a true beautiful Texas Small Town.
The Colorado River is at one end of Main Street and the Railroad Tracks are at the other end.

Katy Tower:A separate building in the backyard, the Katy Tower has an antique bed, converted to queen size. Private bath includes a whirlpool tub for two, with shower. Deck has two rocking chairs! Pets are allowed in this room, with advance permission.

Texas Special Room: Railroad lamps from the 1880s capture the feel of this large master bedroom with a private balcony. Private bath with original full eagle-foot-tub and marble walls. An electric Franklin fireplace adds to the romance of the room.

Guests arriving after 9:00 p.m. should call the Innkeeper directly at 512-237-4262 or toll-free 1-800-843-5289 to make special arrangements. We live on the third floor of the home and try to go upstairs around 10 PM.
