Bed and Breakfast Description

Montgomery Center, Vermont bed and breakfast: Phineas Swann B&B Inn

Welcome to pampered luxury at our romantic Vermont inn. Our all-season retreat, located at the base of Jay Peak, offers unparalleled comfort and personal service - the perfect choice for a relaxing escape to this authentic and picturesque part of Vermont. We invite you to be our guests, and enjoy the charming hospitality of a bed & breakfast with the amenities and privacy of a country inn.

Our Main Inn is comfortable and inviting. Here you'll start each day with a gourmet breakfast, such as raspberry stuffed French toast and country omelets with Vermont cheddar cheese. Afterwards, unwind in the Living Room on overstuffed sofas by a roaring fire, or cozy up in the Library with a good book.

While retaining the charm of the original 1880's farmhouse, with details such as crown molding, wainscoting, hardwood floors, and custom stained glass windows, the Phineas Swann has also been fully updated to provide ultimate comfort for our guests. Our well-appointed rooms feature romantic four-poster beds, fine antiques, luxurious linens, plush robes, and down pillows upon request. Many rooms also feature fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs. For your comfort, all rooms and suites also have individual climate controls, room-darkening shades, televisions with Cable and DVD players, courtesy phones, and WiFi internet.

Phineas Swann has been recommended by Boston, New York and Yankee Magazines, Montreal's La Presse, and Frommer's Guide. We currently hold a 5 out of 5 Rating with Trip Advisor.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Nestled in the Green Mountains of northern Vermont on Montgomery's historic Main Street, our inn enjoys the perfect location. Our quaint village is surrounded by rolling farmland, pristine rivers, and undisturbed forests. It is the only town in the US with 7 covered bridges, many still in use.

Within the area, you can enjoy natural waterfalls, access to the Long Trail and Trout River, maple sugar houses, local artists' galleries, handmade items, antiques, farm tours, hiking, biking, and more. Fall foliage is spectacular! Easy travel distance to Stowe, Burlington, & Canada.

Our area averages over 300 inches of snowfall each year - perfect for horse-drawn sleigh rides, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and skiing - Jay Peak Ski Resort is only 8 miles away!

Property includes a historic country farmhouse with three classic rooms, decorated with European and English antiques; a Carriage House with two suites; and two suites in our River House directly on the Trout River.

Most Popular Rooms:

Our favorite bedroom is the Red Room in the Main Inn. 150 year-old room sized Persian carpet, hand-carved mahogany bed, English oak writing desk, full dresser with plenty of drawers, and a spacious private bathroom ensuite. Beautiful mountain views.

Our most popular room is the Bulldog Suite - this two bedroom suite features a queen four poster bed in one room, and two twins in the other. Separate living room with icemaker, mini fridge, TV with cable and VCR, sofa and recliner. Enjoy the Jacuzzi tub!
