Bed and Breakfast Description

Come up our quiet country lane to West Hill House, an 1850's home just one mile to Sugarbush skiing, golf and tennis resort and adjacent to its Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf course. Close to restaurants, shopping, quaint villages, covered bridges and outdoor recreation beyond imagination.

There's warm weather hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, canoeing, golf and tennis - and wintertime downhill and X/C skiing, snowshoeing, and sleigh riding all nearby. Our nine peaceful acres, with mountain views, extensive gardens, wildflower meadow, ponds and woods provide a setting for relaxation and getting away from it all.

Enjoy the bright sun room, great room and library - all with fireplaces, Oriental rugs, original art, and antiques. Play pool and other games in our library. Relax on our farmhouse front porch or canopied back deck. Read a book or let the birds, chipmunks, deer and an occasional moose entertain you. Tasty breakfasts, afternoon and bedtime snacks.

Candlelight dinners for six or more guests by advance arrangement. Light meals available on arrival night with 24 hours notice. State licensed for sale of wine and beer.

Eight comfortable, well-appointed guestrooms with gas fireplace, direct-dial phone, WiFi/DSL Internet access. Down comforters and pillows, thick towels, good reading lights. Private baths with steam bath and/or Jacuzzi.

Area Attractions and Activities:

In winter we are ideally located for skiing with a free shuttle bus to Sugarbush, which is just 2 minutes away. You can also enjoy the nearby Mad River Glen ski area and two extensively groomed cross country ski areas just down the road. Plus we can lend you sleds and snowshoes - we have a great sledding hill just across the road.

In summer, outdoor enthusiasts may hike the Long Trail, cycle through the mountains or country lanes, golf at the Sugarbush Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr which is right beside the B&B,, enjoy a guided kayak tour on the river, soar above the valley in a glider, fish or just relax in the gardens.

Explorers will love the quaint villages, shops, covered bridges. Also, visit the Shelburne Museum or take Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory tour!

Each guestroom's decor is different - romantic, classic, rustic. Unwind in the Jacuzzi tub or steam shower. All guestrooms have very comfortable queen or king beds, fireplaces, TV/VCR/DVD, complimentary phone calls/voicemail and free WiFi/DSL.

Paris Suite: Honeymoon heaven! Canopied queen bed, sitting area, fireplace, cable TV/VCR/DVD, large bathroom, separate "spa room" with double Jacuzzi and gas-fired woodstove. Study with desk, daybed, outside entrance to private deck and parking area.
