Our sunny deck is ideal for relaxing after a long day observing & photographing the wildlife, which abound in our valley. You may see both Black & Grizzly Bear strolling up & down the road. And if you are extremely blessed you may see one of our wolves.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Hyder, Alaska bed and breakfast: Kathy's Korner B&B

We haved lived in Hyder nearly 27 years and have learned much about the areas history and resources. Hyder has been a major life change after being raised in Southern California! A wonderful place to raise our girls and now our grandchildren! Our house is contemporary in style. We are located on Main Street and within walking distance of all village amenities. We offer the usual amenities of B&Bs worldwide and several of which bring our guests back year after year.

We have satellite TV, a stereo with cassette and CD use, a small personal library for guests use, and a selection of board games available.

We have become recognized all over the globe and have many repeat guests from nearly every nation of the world. The guests we have hosted have been more than pleased by our service and return year after year.

Area Attractions and Activities:

The world famous Fish Creek Bear Viewing Area is but a short 3 mile trip up the road. Salmon Glacier is a 5 hour round trip, taking it slow to see all the wonderful scenery and wildlife. The head of the Portland Canal, a 90+ mile long fjord, is a short stroll from the house. Here you will find prime halibut fishing, crabbing, prawning, and boating. Charter companies locally if you do not have a boat. A bus service will take you on a tour of the Salmon River Valley in the late season, usually beginning early July, as it's not unheard of for the heights to get 100+ feet of snow in the winter!
One new attraction is the arrival of a pack of wolves to the valley. You may see/hear them at the Bear Viewing Site and hear them singing at night near the village. We have had them behind the house several times and their singing can raise the hairs on the back of your neck, well worth the chill. Hearing them in the early morning will get the blood flowing and anxious to visit the creek early!
