![]() As you enter the wide central hall, you will see one of the Inn's most distinguished features -- an elegant graceful stairway, which leads to a landing and branches into two. This particular characteristic gives it the quaint designation of a "good-morning staircase." The day begins in the dining room with a bountiful continental breakfast of fresh fruit, juice, bread or muffins, tea or coffee, and cereal. In the back of the house is the sunny garden room where tea is served each afternoon. Area Attractions and Activities: Newburyport has much to offer, regardless of the season -- from swimming at beaches at Plum Island and Salisbury in the summer to cross-country skiing at Maudslay State Park in the winter. For less strenuous fun there are plays, films, and some unique museums. Those who like to shop will find many interesting stores and boutiques. And, of course, everybody has to eat; Newburyport has some of the finest restaurants on the North Shore. Services: Parlor, fireplace, garden, library, spacious and plentiful off street parking Most Popular Rooms: Clark Room: The crown jewel of the inn! It features a canopy bed that has as its headboard a mantel carved by the renown Samuel McIntyre. Victorian couch, chairs, large window seats, and a side table with a decorative tea service. Merrimac Suite: The separate outside entrance makes it very nice for those guests who want extra privacy. It is equipped with a queen sized double bed, large easy chair and writing desk. With windows on three walls, the room is extremely light and breezy. |
