Bed and Breakfast Description

The Red House Inn has operated as a B&B for the last several years, but the house was built in 1851 to serve as a general store. Since that time it has been the county's first courthouse, a railroad station, a school and a family home.

In January 2007 Daniel & Tracie Trusler purchased The Red House Inn as a home for themselves and their daughter, Emily. They have renovated the guest rooms and furnished them with luxurious beds, high quality bedding and modern conveniences such as satellite television and high speed wireless Internet. The bathrooms have been updated with ceramic tile showers and floors, new fixtures and improved plumbing to ensure a plentiful supply of hot water.

After a good night's sleep, guests can start the day with a selection of cereals, juice and fresh breads along with a cooked English breakfast that includes bacon and sausages produced in Lumberton, eggs from Madison County and coffee that is freshly roasted in Brevard.

The Red House is convenient to many area sites of interest such as nearby golf courses, fishing, horseback riding, antiquing, and is within walking distance to the downtown shops and restaurants.

Within an easy drive, visitors can enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville's Biltmore House, Flat Rock's Carl Sandburg home, any of Brevard's "one hundred twenty" waterfalls. Pisgah National Forest, including the Cradle of Forestry, Looking Glass Falls, and Sliding Rock, offers sightseeing and recreational opportunities. Some of the best mountain biking trails are found in Pisgah and Dupont State Forest.

Enjoy a concert at the Brevard Music Center or Brevard College's Porter Center. Many festivals, like the White Squirrel Festival, offer shopping, dining and entertainment as well.
