![]() Originally a 1920s mountain farmhouse, the Folkestone offers ten air conditioned guestrooms, all with private baths with clawfoot tubs and showers. Upstairs, the inn offers private balconies with vistas of the Great Smoky Mountains, while the downstairs rooms offer an olde world charm, with flagstone floors and pressed-tin ceilings. Breakfast specialties include eggs benedict and banana-walnut French toast. The Inn is conveniently located in the middle of everything and makes a great base camp for exploring the surrounding area. We are 1/4 mile from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; 2 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains Railway; 10 miles from the Cherokee Indian Reservation and Oconaluftee Indian Village. 12 miles from Tsali Mountain Bike Trails and Harrah's Cherokee Casino; 13 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway; 15 miles from Nantahala White Water; 35 miles from Fontana Dam and Clingman's Dome; 45 miles from Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and Gatlinburg; 65 miles from Biltmore House & Gardens and Cades Cove. The Folkestone Inn offers an option 6-course dinner on Saturday nights. Area Attractions and Activities: There's hiking, trout fishing and horseback riding in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, mountain biking on the famous Tsali trails, fishing on Fontana Lake, sightseeing on the Great Smoky Mountains Scenic Railway and whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, just a twenty-five minute drive from the Inn.
