 Welcome to the Buttonwood Inn, where country charm and southern hospitality combine to provide guests with a memorable vacation! The four bedroom inn was originally built in the late 1920's between the 5th and 7th greens of the Franklin Public Golf Course, and had some of the main structure renovated in 1995. The two-story inn has a white pine tung and groove interior and batten board exterior. A new wing was added in the late 1950's which retained the same rustic charm and now accommodates some of the Inn's guests. Innkeeper Liz Oehser has furnished the inn with charming antiques, collectibles, handmade family quilts, and country pieces. Enjoy the mountain views from a rocking chair on the deck; watch the Dogwoods bloom in the spring or admire the breathtaking display of the fall foliage. Each morning enjoy such culinary delights as puffy scrambled eggs, apple sausage ring, stuffed French toast, or Dutch babies with rum bananas. Area Attractions and Activities: For those who seek adventure - gem mining, hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding, searching for the ultimate waterfall, mountain biking, and more await you in the Southern Appalachian mountains! If you are looking for rest and relaxation there is wonderful antique shopping, fine dining, and the slow pace of mountain time to be enjoyed here in Franklin. At Buttonwood Inn, you are only a few steps from the Franklin Public Golf Course where you can enjoy nine holes of golf. In nearby Cherokee, NC you will find Harrah's Cherokee Casino; and a short drive from Franklin will bring you to Dillsboro, NC, home of the Smoky Mountain Railroad.
