Bed and Breakfast Description

You will find our B&B, Golden Eagle Ranch, a restful inn and a peaceful escape in the foothills of the Cuyamaca Mountains, near Julian, in southern California, just 40 miles east of downtown San Diego. Recently built in 2005, our home has a fresh look, with wood floors throughout to give it that country charm.

Now available at Golden Eagle Guest Ranch, the West and South bedrooms, with the North room and its additional family space. All guest rooms are located on the second floor of our home. Book a weekend get-away in our guest rooms today. Our Descanso hideaway is ideal lodging for exploring Julian, the Cuyamaca State Park, San Diego, and shopping, live concerts and casinos.

Many hiking trails are available right here on the ranch. Terrain is hilly. Take a walk down to the creek which runs all year. See if you can find our Indian grind hole which was used to grind acorns into flour by local Native peoples. Remember to wear good sturdy shoes.

There are many varieties of birds that live in this area. See how many you can spot on the ground, in bushes and trees. My personal favorites are the hawks that soar through the valley. Don't forget those wild turkeys who visit the ranch twice a day. Remember to keep a safe distance from all wild animals.

Most nights the skies are clear and you can easily see many stars, constellations, and some planets. If you are really lucky to be at the ranch when Chris gets out his telescope, you will be in for a real treat.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Descanso is the gateway to Julian from the south. Julian is an 1870's gold mining town nestled in the mountains and only 35 min up Hwy 79. You can shop, enjoy famous apple pies, take a horse and buggy ride, visit the old jail and just might see some outlaws and floozies walking about in period costume.

Enjoy the Pine Valley Days, Parade and rodeo held each July and the Vaquero Days, Western Heritage Festival in October. During the winter time you can enjoy southern California's largest outdoor rink.

For those who like a little Las Vegas action, we are close to three local Indian Casinos offering gaming, shows and restaurants. The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians hosts Viejas Casino featuring Indian gaming, live performances, water show, restaurants, buffet, and outlet mall with interesting architecture and many animal sculptures.

Enjoy the Cuyamaca State Park with picnic areas, and lots of hiking, biking & horse trails, museum and visitor center.

The West Room, we call the Paniolo room, That's Hawaiian for cowboy, because of the colorful undersea mural painted on one complete wall. enjoy a large room, private bath, queen bed, and views to the South and West of the ranch.

The South Room is furnished with oak. This room is furnished with a queen size bed, swivel rocker chair, wood floors, walk-in closet and TV with DVD player. The bath is immediately accessible from inside the bedroom.
