Christopher Kratzer House

Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

As the oldest home in Clearfield, The Christopher Kratzer Bed and Breakfast is a Classic Revival house in the Old Town Historic District.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Clearfield, Pennsylvania bed and breakfast: Christopher Kratzer House

This graceful home, painted in a warm yellow with white trim and soft green shutters, was built prior to 1840 by Christopher Kratzer, a noted lumberman, carpenter, architect, politician, and owner of the County's first newspaper. The present owners, Bruce and Ginny Baggett, remain devoted to their charming home; after several years of time and attention, it is evident that maintaining this historic house is a labor of love.

The interior of the house reflects not only the interest Bruce and Ginny have in preserving history, but also their personalities. Their enjoyment of many different styles and periods of furniture is apparent in their mixture of antiques and fine reproductions with purely contemporary pieces. This eclectic decor also shows their interest in art and music; as a professional artist, Ginny has filled the rooms with an interesting and varied collection of objects d'art as well as many of her silkscreen prints. Bruce's music profession is represented also with musical instruments and memorabilia of more than thirty years of show business.

The guest rooms are as lovingly decorated as the common areas. Two guest rooms, one with mahogany twin beds and one with an antique queen-sized spool bed, can be separate or connecting.

Bruce and Ginny Baggett will be glad to help you plan your visit by providing information about local restaurants and points of interests, sharing with you the charm and ambiance of Christopher Kratzer House.
