Bed and Breakfast Description

Tryon, North Carolina bed and breakfast: 1906 Pine Crest Inn & Restaurant

The Pine Crest Inn was constructed in 1906, and has welcomed guests since equestrian Carter Brown converted it to an inn in 1917. It was added to The National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Today, the Inn features 35 comfortable guest rooms; four in the main Pine Crest Lodge and the remainder in ten outlying cottages. Original buildings, including a 240-year-old log cabin, a woodcutter cottage, and a stone cottage, add to its charm.

Reminiscent of an English country inn, the Pine Crest's comforts include supple leather chairs, richly upholstered furnishings, lovely stone fireplaces and natural hardwood floors. Each of our guest rooms has private bath, telephone, television and VCR, and many rooms feature sitting rooms, fireplaces, and whirlpool baths. The Inn also offers an extensive library of books and videotapes to peruse at your leisure.

The culinary team at our AAA Four-Diamond Restaurant caters to your group's schedule and dining needs. Fresh flowers, candlelight, and a crackling fire complete the English Tavern setting and enhance your dining enjoyment. Our Executive Chef prepares inspired cuisine from the freshest ingredients; a feast for both the eye and palate. Our award-winning wine collection offers a variety of select vintages to perfectly compliment your meal.

Area Attractions and Activities:

The Pine Crest Inn creates an atmosphere that is charming, gracious and relaxing. There are no distractions when it is time for business, but plenty of ways for guests to enjoy their leisure time.

Many diversions are located at the Inn and even more are just moments away. Some of our favorites are shopping for arts, crafts, antiques, and other hand-made items, hiking on local trails and to scenic waterfalls, attending musicals and plays at the local theaters and playhouses, or sipping wine at a local winery. We are also blessed with access to some of North Carolina's most popular tourist attractions, such as the expansive Biltmore Estate, the Cowpens Battlefield Park, or the historic homes of famous writers, poets, and playwrights such as Carl Sandburg, Thomas Wolfe, or Sidney Lanier.

Outdoor Pastimes at the Inn
The Inn offers volleyball, badminton, croquet and bocce ball on the lawn by our gazebo.

Most Popular Rooms:

Swayback: Listed on National Registry of Historic Places, this circa 1760 log cabin was moved to current location in 1917. A favorite of F. Scott Fitzgerald & Ernest Hemingway, it's complete with original woodburning fireplace, updated decor & bathroom.

Fitzgerald: A historic log cabin that has been turned into a spacious and elegant two-room suite with fireplaces in both rooms.
