Bed and Breakfast Description

At Kenburn Orchards Bed and Breakfast, we offer you a choice of three spacious guest rooms, each with a private bath en suite furnished with the finest amenities you'd expect in a quality inn such as air conditioning, Panama fans, Frette robes, CD/radios, irons, in-room coffee/tea, white noise machines, etc.

We have lovingly restored our family's stately colonial farmhouse, built in 1877, which sits atop our own hill, surrounded by 165 private acres on which we grow Christmas trees, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and lingonberries. In season, these fruits and berries find their way into our home-made breads, muffins and breakfasts, and Susan's fruit preserves.

We are located in Shelburne, just over the Greenfield line, (three miles west of I-91 exit 26), but we're a world away, set back from the scenic Mohawk Trail in the midst of an old apple orchard. Looking east across the Connecticut River to the hills beyond, we can see all the way to Mount Monadnock, more than fifty miles away in New Hampshire.

We are in an extraordinarily beautiful rural area known for its history, schools and museums, picturesque farms and year 'round opportunities for outdoor activities. The quiet beauty of the area seems to promote creativity; the hills are alive with music, and many world-class artists and crafts-people live and work here. A number of festivals and events sponsored by a variety of local organizations ensure that there is usually something wonderful going on nearby.

Located within 2.5 miles of the the crossroads of Route 2 and Interstate 91, Kenburn Orchards is near to the many fine preparatory schools and colleges of the Pioneer Valley. Our location is perfect for parent's weekends, graduations, holiday visits or for the student on tour looking for just the right school.

All the best of New England recreation is nearby, with sports or leisure for every season of the year. Whether you choose hiking on trails along the rivers or through the mountains, wildlife viewing/birding on our farm, white-water kayaking, canoeing or river rafting, ballooning, skiing cross-country, snowshoeing or downhill skiing, our area has it all.

The Pioneer Valley has a rich culture of arts, music and theater. In the summer, the Mohawk Trail Concerts fill the hills with classical music performed by some of the finest artists.

Nearby museums including Historic Deerfield, local historical society museums, and museums at area colleges provide a look at our heritage.

Most Popular Rooms:

The Isadore Pratt room features a queen canopy cherry pencil-post bed. Three tall windows, facing south and east, invite light and the wonders of outdoors right into the room. Its bath features a deep claw-foot soaking bathtub and a separate shower.

The Kenyon Yale room is tucked partially under the eaves and is the perfect place to retreat from the world. With a queen-size cherry spindle bed, it is comfortably cozy with a large bath with an air-pool tub, separate shower, and pedestal sink.
