The Landgrove Inn

Landgrove, Vermont.

Over the river and through the woods, a true country inn, family run for over 40 years. Groomed cross country skiing with rentals, horse-drawn sleigh and carriage. Delicious food and wonderfully elegant New England charm.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Landgrove, Vermont bed and breakfast: The Landgrove Inn

The Inn. First it was a farmhouse, then an après ski lodge, and then in 1959, it became a B&B called The J-Bar Lodge, then The Village Inn. Today, The Landgrove Inn has 18 guest rooms, a public restaurant, a busy four season special events schedule, and a brand new Center for the Arts, Crafts & Sciences, located overlooking our pond with stunning views of Stiles Peak in the distance, available for use by arts & crafts workshops, religious retreats, small corporate seminars, lectures, and more.

A day at the inn begins with a hearty country breakfast, serving everything from eggs any style to our famous "J-Bar special", pancakes, eggs, bacon, and our Vermont maple sausage. In the evening enjoy a candlelit meal in our newly refurbished dining room. Our public restaurant has become a favorite place for locals to enjoy one of Chef Elise Durr's special creations, satisfying local area diners for over 25 years. No meal is complete without one of Elise's delicious desserts. Try our special "Vermont night" prix fixe dinners every Weds and Sunday.

In winter, we offer 15 kilometers of groomed, x-country trails, ice skating, snowshoeing, and sleigh rides by appointment. Downhill skiing and snow boarding is no more than 20 minutes away. Shopping options abound.

Come summer, swimming, tennis, hiking, biking, fishing in our stocked trout pond and canoeing, provide hours of recreation and relaxation throughout 31 acres of meadows and woods surrounded by stunning mountain views.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Once upon a time, the bucolic village of Landgrove boasted more fence posts than people. It still does. Tucked snuggly away in a hypnotically beautiful mountain valley, it continues to defy time and the temptation to “improve”.

There is no traffic, no stores, and no noise. The air is naturally pine-scented and the sparkling fresh water is free. Horses have the right of way here. And there’s the moonlight – unlike any other, anywhere.

Artists come from far and wide to sketch the barns, paint the fields, capture the ministry of the mountains that surround the big valley. Even a river runs through it.

With canopied country lanes, meandering meadows of green, mesmerizing views and not a paved road in sight, Landgrove today is classic Currier & Ives with a twist – it still exists.

Attractions: Manchester shopping, Bromley, Stratton, Okemo and Magic skiing, Bromley Thrill Park, great golf choices, summer theatre, skiing, biking, swimming, tennis, snowshoeing, sleigh/carriage rides.
