Bed and Breakfast Description

The handmade lace doilies and stained glass lamps found in all of the rooms and common areas provide that "Old World" charm. The beautiful golden oak of the original hardwood floors, built-in cabinets, benches, bookcase, and oak staircase on the first floor exudes a warmth that makes you feel immediately welcomed and at home when you enter Quill Haven Country Inn.

The Bed and Breakfast's Common Living Room is equipped with a small kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and sink so you have access to coffee, tea and hot chocolate 24 hours a day. The refrigerator is stocked with soda and we offer a complimentary glass of wine in the evening. You can spend a cozy evening in front of the fireplace reading a book or watching a movie from our well-stocked libraries. Feel free to relax in the outdoor hot tub located on the private backyard deck anytime during your stay. Savor the full breakfast that is served between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. in the bright, cheerful Sun room with its large stained glass window and oak trim.

All of the rooms have new private bathrooms with showers,(the Bridal Suite has a sunken tub as well), air conditioning, ceiling fans, color cable television, VCR's and heated mattress pads with dual controls so no one has to argue over the settings.

Wireless Internet access is available in all rooms in the B&B. The owner's living quarters are separate in the house affording guests complete privacy but they are always available if needed.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Skiing, snow tubing & sleigh rides can be enjoyed at Hidden Valley & Seven Springs Ski Resorts. Many festivals & concerts are held here. There is stockcar racing at the Jennerstown Raceway & excellent summer theatre at the Mountain Playhouse.

Tours of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural masterpieces, Fallingwater & Kentuck Knob, are available. There are numerous state parks such as Ohiopyle, Laurel Hill & Laurel Ridge for those who like hiking & exploring. The Allegheny Highlands Rails to Trails winds its way through several towns within minutes of Somerset for those who enjoy biking or walking.

White water rafting & canoeing are additional options at Ohiopyle State Park, & swimming & boating are enjoyed at the Youghiogheny Reservoir.

For history buffs, the Johnstown Flood Museum & Heritage Centers, Somerset Historical Center, Fort Ligonier & Compass Inn Museum are within 30 minutes of the B&B. There are many antique shops & old time stores. Flight 93 Memorial is 20 away.

Bridal Suite: Romantically decorated in navy blue florals & battenburg lace, this room has a four poster queen size bed draped with lace. The large bath has a shower and a sunken bathtub in which to soak away your aches & worries. TV/VCR & wireless avail.

Rose Room: Relax in its king size four poster wrought iron bed draped in lace and decorated with soft pink roses. There is a comfortable loveseat in the room, private bath with a shower, TV/VCR & wireless Internet access. Romantic escape from the world.
