Depoe Bay is known as the "Whale Watching Capital" with a whale center run by the Oregon State Parks right on the ocean. Whales can be seen up to 8 months a year, just by standing on the seawall downtown and keeping a close eye on the ocean. During the summer season there are whale watching cruises available with various skippers. Or you can board a zodiac with local whale researcher, Carrie Newell, and see these magnificent creatures up close. Go deep sea fishing, tide pooling, beach combing, shopping or enjoy our local restaurants.
