Williamsburg, Virginia bed and breakfast: Governor's Trace
Experience the 18th century at Governor's Trace, just a one minute walk from George Washington's favorite tavern in Colonial Williamsburg --- Christiana Campbell's. Amble down streets that Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson trod or follow the chain encumbered footsteps of 13 of Blackbeard's pirates from the jail to the site of the gallows tree on Capitol Landing Road.

This Georgian brick home, completed during the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg, sits on over half an acre. Governor's Trace lies at the hub of early life in Williamsburg and faces what was then the main road of commerce to and from the English ships docked on Capitol Landing Creek. Adjacent property was purchased by order of the English Crown for the construction of the Governor's Palace. Later, Governor's Trace's land was part of a peanut plantation.

Governor's Trace shares a living history today with her illustrious neighbor, Colonial Williamsburg. Artifacts from both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars have been found in the front yard abutting Capitol Landing Road.

The house is decorated with an eclectic collection of family antiques and "found" treasures acquired during 27 years of travel. Governor's Trace beckons you to step back in time. Let your imagination and your accommodations take you there.
