Alpenhorn B&B
Big Bear, California.
The perfect place for a garden wedding or romantic getaway. Relish a glass of wine while watching a sunset in our exquisite gardens, or sit by the fire and watch snow magically blanket the landscape. Enjoy modern elegance amidst tranquility.
Bed and Breakfast Description

Discover a place designed to meet needs of the most discerning guest. Located on two landscaped acres of alpine forest, midway between the Village and the Snow Summit Ski Area, the atmosphere at the Alpenhorn Bed & Breakfast is comparable to some of Europe’s finest.
Guestrooms have private baths with fully tiled showers and separate spa tubs for two, fireplaces, televisions and VCRs, phones, king or queen feather beds, and private balconies.
Breakfasts consist of fresh breads, seasonal fruit, our own granola, hot oatmeal banana brulee and a hot dish such as coddled eggs, apple pancakes, or cheese strata. Hot and cold beverages, along with freshly baked cookies, are available throughout the day.
In the early evening, the Alpenhorn offers complimentary hors d'oeuvres served with a variety of wines. And for later in the evening, guests can enjoy a variety of after-dinner liqueurs and chocolates.
Enjoy elegance without formality, luxury without stiffness or discomfort. Our inn is a proud recipient of a AAA four diamond award.
Area Attractions and Activities:
The city of Big Bear Lake is an Alpine-Subalpine, year-round recreation area with a full time population of about 6,000; however, on a good winter weekend, the population can swell to 100,000 or more. It is located at about 7,000 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains northeast of Los Angeles. It is a two and one-half hour drive from the Los Angeles International Airport, and a comfortable three-hour drive from San Diego, Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, and Palm Springs. The Big Bear Valley is known for its excellent day and night skiing, miles of hiking trails, mountain biking, horseback riding, gold-mining-boom-town history, fishing, boating, pristine air, and sparkling lake.
Big Bear is an ideal year-round resort with four seasons of outdoor activities. Summer temperatures range from in the upper 70's during the day to around 45 at night. Because of the nearly 300 days of clear skies and sunshine, one of the world's six solar observatories is located right on the lake.
