1845 Greek Revival visited by Lincoln, Twain and Grant. The surrounding land was where Grant once trained his troops. One block from Grant's home. The ambiance still remains in this quiet residential neighborhood.

Throughout the house, period decor, antiques and some reproductions are harmonized to achieve stateliness without sacrificing the feeling of warmth and hospitality.

The five guest rooms feature queen sized beds with private baths. Clawfoot tubs/showers, pedestal sinks and high tank pull chain commodes are some of the accoutrements. These rooms offer added comfort with fireplaces and central air-conditioning.

A full breakfast is served each morning by candlelight in the grand dining room. If guests desire, they may enjoy their morning coffee in the screened-in porch adjoining the dining room or stroll on the grounds where Grant once trained his troops.
Each evening join your fellow guests for complimentary wine and cheese.

Located in historic Galena, Illinois, the village offers wonderful shops including antique, gift, specialty and clothing items. The area has many exquisite dining experiences from the corner cafe to gourmet fare to suit any palate and pocket book.
The countryside is unforgettable at any season with rolling hills and deep hollows. For the outdoor enthusiast, there is canoeing, biking, hiking and skiing.

The Cyrus Aldrich Room: In the original part of the house, this room has plank floors, angled ceilings, fireplace, antique oak furniture including queen-size bed, private bath with claw foot tub, vintage brass shower and unique oak sink. Quiet and cozy.
