Bed and Breakfast Accommodations

At Madewood, we offer a unique setting with history and romantic ambience. For the convenience of our guests, we offer an all-inclusive package with dinner and breakfast or a limited package with breakfast only. With the all-inclusive package, at 6 pm guests mingle in the library with complimentary wine and cheese service followed by a candlelight dinner served at 6:30 pm in the family dining room. Or you can choose a private dinner alone in another room (private dinners are available by reservation and with additional charges.)

Coffee and brandy are offered in the parlor after dinner where you may continue conversations begun at dinner with your new friends. Wake up to a full plantation breakfast served at 8:30 am in the main dining room.

Madewood is an ideal setting for honeymoons, romantic getaways, family gatherings and is available for weddings and/or receptions.

There are 6 romantic rooms and 2 suites with air conditioning, private baths and CD players, in the mansion and riverboat captain's house across the garden patio. Our honeymoon room in the Charlet house has a working fireplace and a small screened porch.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Many of our guests enjoy taking a swamp tour and there are several within driving distance of Madewood. One of our favorites is Attakapas Adventures in Napoleonville with a more relaxed, personal and ecological experience guided by Ginger Rushing, a local with much knowledge of the area.

Other guests will enjoy visiting Oak Alley, Laura, or Nottoway. For guests staying several nights at Madewood, we suggest a trip into Thibodaux to see the Jean Lafitte Cultural Center, Laurel Valley Plantation, E.D. White House and lunch at Fremin's.

Master Bedroom: Opens onto front gallery. English canopied bed. Private shower bath. Available for families; has connecting bedroom with two single beds.

Honeymoon Room: Across the gardens from the mansion. One of three rooms in our Charlet House. Has queen bed, full bath with Jacuzzi tub, working fireplace, private screened porch. Honeymoon two night package available.
