Bed and Breakfast Description

Wasilla, Alaska bed and breakfast: Shady Acres B&B

Our two main floor guestrooms feature king or extra long single beds, private baths with roll-in showers, and in-room phones.

The B&B is wheelchair-accessible, featuring a ramp to the front door, roll-in showers, and other amenities. Large great room with cedar cathedral ceilings and views of the surrounding forest.

A hot, homecooked breakfast is served each morning in the dining room, or ask for "breakfast in a bag," so you can get an early start exploring the area.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Near Lake Lucile in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Just an hour from Anchorage. Railroads, Iditarod headquarters, glaciers, fishing, flightseeing and museums.

Welcome to the Last Frontier! Many road atlases make our state look smaller than the state of Rhode Island, but Alaska is more than three times the size of Texas. Seeing the all of Alaska in one short visit is virtually impossible. Have you noticed the lack of roads in the state? This makes travel even more of a challenge. Because we have very few four- lane highways and traffic can be heavy, your average driving speed may be slower than you expect.

We dress very casual in Alaska. Jeans are always acceptable and flannel is always in season. Our average summer temperature is about 65 degrees. Dress in layers and always have a hooded raincoat along. Rain doesn’t stop outdoor activities here, we just put up our hood and keep going. A fishing guide friend even claims that fishing is better in the rain.

Services:

Wheelchair accessible, telephones, roll-in showers
