Sylvia's Irish Inn - formerly known as Lindley House is one of Urbana's finest examples of the Queen Anne style of Victorian architecture.

Bed and Breakfast Description

The house was designed by Rudolph Zachariah Gill, an 1887 graduate of the University of Illinois in architecture and engineering, and was built in 1895 for Dr. Austin Lindley, a prominent physician and surgeon for the Big Four Railroad in Urbana. The Lindleys lived there until around 1922. Over the last 50 years, the house has been used for various commercial enterprises, including the Conservatory of Music of Central Illinois.

In 1996 Norman and Carolyn Baxley refurbished the house and with their friend Catherine Cutter opened Lindley House B&B. In September 2003, Ernie and Sylvia Sullivan purchased Lindley House and continued the restoration and appointment of the property and recently gave it a new name Sylvia's Irish Inn.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Fill your shopping bags a block away at Lincoln Square Mall or around the corner on Main Street. Take a short walk and tour the University of Illinois campus or spend a relaxing afternoon boating or picnicking at Crystal Lake Park.

Put up your feet and unwind on our front porch or back patio and then stroll over to one of Urbana's fine restaurants. Put the finishing touch on your evening with a cappuccino and a visual feast of artwork at the Cinema Art Cafe.

King Suite: There is a beautiful contrast of light colors in this room with wood furnishings. The room is appointed with beautiful furniture, many of which are antiques; lofted beamed ceiling architecture, stained glass, and dramatic lines.

Queen Room 2: Deep orange colored walls with wood bed frames and drawers.
