Bed and Breakfast Description

Vinalhaven, Maine bed and breakfast: Libby House Inn

The Libby House was built in 1869 by T.E. Libby, a very prominent man of the State of Maine. He was responsible for bringing the Maine State Ferry to Vinalhaven and the T.E. Libby Ferry continues to be the extra boat to this day.

The house is a country Victorian home with the style and grace of the 1800’s. Each room is decorated in a period style yet has the comfortable feeling of visiting a good friend’s home.

The owner Phil Roberts is a retired music teacher from New York. He has owned the Libby House for over twenty years and has been its single operator. There is a standing no smoking rule anywhere inside the Libby House. Phil’s hope is for you to share his home while finding your own unique moments on Vinalhaven.

There is a large living room with a fireplace and plenty of books, many are about Vinalhaven and Maine. It is furnished with large Deco style stuffed chairs and couches.
