The Hope and Glory Inn

Irvington, Virginia.

Travel & Leisure ranks us one of this country's Great Inns. Frommer's Travel Guide - three stars - its highest rating! Historic schoolhouse, quaint cottages, lush gardens, waterfront village.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Irvington, Virginia bed and breakfast: The Hope and Glory Inn

Around 1890, a small school opened in Irvington on the property of the old Methodist Church. It had two front doors: one for girls, one for boys. Today that small school has graduated into what Europe's "Tatler-Cunard Travel Guide" rated as one of the "101 Best Hotels in the World." "Southern Living" in February 2005 named it one of their "Four Favorite Romantic Getaways." "Virginia Living" in its June 2005 issue names the Hope and Glory as one of Virginia's "13 Lavish Hotels and Inns". "Walking into the Hope and Glory...I knew I landed in heaven". "Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion" June+July 2005 issue: Eight delightful pages on the "hopelessly romantic and gloriously fun" Hope and Glory Inn. "Each room delivers relaxed luxury and off-the-shoulder elegance."

Couples escape. Families unite. Brides and grooms tie the knot here and remember year after year. Corporate retreat. The Kellogg Foundation, Pfizer Corporation, Proctor and Gamble and Philip Morris chose us this past year. And no wonder…
Seven individually styled rooms in a historic schoolhouse eclectically styled and hopelessly romantic, with six quaint English cottages and lush gardens. All situated in a Chesapeake Bay waterfront village full of chic shops and 673 endearing people.

See Irvington the way it was meant to be seen aboard our restored 1952 Chesapeake Bay deadrise workboat.
