A romantic Bed & Breakfast just 80 miles south of St. Louis in the heart of MO's Scenic Arcadia Valley, located conveniently near Johnson's Shut-ins, Elephant Rocks, Fort Davidson Civil War Site, Taum Sauk Mountain, The Ozark Trail & antique shopping.

Bed and Breakfast Description

This delightful farmhouse, built in 1908, is located just 2 miles outside of the towns of Ironton, Pilot Knob and Arcadia in beautiful Arcadia Valley. A bubbling creek runs behind the house.

Enter the door of this post Victorian house and see to the right the staircase leading upstairs and straight ahead the parlor, dining room and kitchen. The ceilings on the first floor are antique patterned tin sheets which have been restored and painted white peony. The original oak and pine floors have been recently refurbished.

Come make yourself comfortable in the Parlor. Bookshelves laden with books welcome you to sit and read in this sunny room. An antique mantle(c.1904) graces the fireplace. A puzzle sits on a table in front of the bay window beckoning you to put it together.

Most of the furniture in the house is custom handmade Amish oak furniture.

Bedrooms have cable TV & DVD players, with Free Movies selections in Parlor for your viewing pleasure, as well as high speed Internet & zoned heating & cooling for your comfort.

Spa showers have been added to the private bathrooms; three have Jacuzzi tubs and the other an old soaking tub, all have Spa showers.

Enjoy the grounds. Gazebo, patio with firepit and hot tub are all available for your use.

Full breakfast will be served in the dining room, sunny breakfast room or outside on the patio that overlooks scenic Stouts creek.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Enjoy the many area attractions, such as the antique & craft shops, Fort Davidson Historic Civil War Site, Statue of Ulysses S. Grant,(he got his commission to be General in Ironton).

Natural beauty abounds at the Elephant Rock State Park, Taum Sauk Mountain, the highest point in Missouri, with Mina Sauk Falls a 3 mile hike away, Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park, Millstream Gardens, Black River float trips & the Ozark Trail.

If country music is your thing, come to the Bobby Powell Jamboree located in Ironton or just a short drive away, the Plummer Family Theater near Farmington. The Plummers use to entertain in Branson, MO. Schedules are limited for both theaters.

A scenic forty five minute drive will get you to wine country. On the Route du Vin you can visit 4 different wineries, all distinctive in their own way: Charleville Winery, Crown Winery, Chaumette Winery & Cave Winery with a real cave on the property.

Romantic pkg, picnic lunches & hiking shuttles can be arranged.

Scarlett's Hideaway: If Scarlett O'Hara, from Gone with the Wind, lived today, this is where she would want to have her romantic trysts. This hideaway is tucked away with its own private entrance as well as private patio. Small pet welcome in this room.

Amish Room: Most of the furniture in this room was custom made & handcrafted by the Amish. The unique wrap-around queen size bed is the focus of this room. Private deluxe bathroom features an oversize Jacuzzi & spa shower.
