Bed and Breakfast Description

Set on a half-acre of lawns and gardens, ThistleDown House is an entrancing oasis of rest and relaxation away from the bustle of the great City of Vancouver, yet only minutes from its centre.

At the end of your busy afternoon, relax before the fire in the lounge, in the bright airyness of the Wintergarden or in the shade of an ancient fruit tree with European pastries, chocolate indulgences or fresh fruit flans and selected teas.

In the morning, softly wake to the mouth-watering aroma of baking bread and ThistleDown's own blend of rich coffee. Sit down in the Craftsman dining room to a deliciously creative multi-course breakfast. Your main course will be selected from a seemingly endless repertoire of such tantalizing ingredients as wild steelhead trout or Pacific salmon, mushrooms from British Columbia's forest floor, aged European cheeses, free-range eggs and fresh herbs.

ThistleDown House was the 2005 recipient of the Heritage Restoration Award and the 2004 recipient of the prestigious Turner Hospitality Award.

Area Attractions and Activities:

ThistleDown House is ideally situated on Vancouver's spectacular North Shore, yet only 15 minutes by car from the centre of Vancouver and 20 minutes from the ferries to Vancouver Island.

ThistleDown is within walking distance of a world-renowned suspension bridge and a regional park with 26 km of hiking trails along the cascades of the Capilano River.

A five minute drive and a gondola ride away is Grouse Mountain, with its superb views of Vancouver and the lower coast of British Columbia.

Under the Apple Tree, finely furnished and seductively romantic, has a king size bed, a fireplace in a sunken sitting room, a private garden for mornings in the sun and a jetted-air tub for two.

Sweet Tibby's: Furnished in antique Eastern Canadian and English pine, and has a great queen size sleigh bed. A small sitting room and full bath with stained glass windows make this suite the first choice for many returning guests.
