Bed and Breakfast Description

Half Moon Bay, California bed and breakfast: San Benito House

Half Moon Bay has always been a popular destination for Bay Area folks who want to get away without going too far. The town combines ocean scenery and a laid-back feel.

In the middle of its tree-lined downtown is the century-old, two-story San Benito House, a noted restaurant, bar, twelve-room B&B, and the site of one of the best deck and garden combinations in the Bay Area. The surprise and delight you feel when you first see their striking garden is the same as when you round the curve in the road and catch sight of a beautiful view. It would be hard to find a cozier place to stay. Each room features a different color scheme and theme, most have the original clawfoot tubs, and there's a sauna for everyone to enjoy.

After 25 years in business, the restaurant, which once received a glowing review in Gourmet magazine, has closed to the public and focuses now on weddings and special events. The nice thing about this is that hotel guests now get to chat in the morning with the owner or founder in a more leisurely manner. In many ways, San Benito House is like a champion decathlete - it is very good at everything it sets out to do.
