Area Attractions and Activities:

Gorgeous as the Eastern Townships are in the summer, with their lush green forests and rolling farmland, come autumn they're spectacular. The countryside is ablaze with gold and scarlet because most trees are deciduous, and, as the days grow shorter and evenings crisper, they start to get ready for winter by putting on a splendid show. And, the star of the show is undoubtedly the maple, which has given Canadians one of their national symbols, the maple leaf.

The hight point is usually around the end of September, when the colours are truly magnificent. And there's no better way to enjoy them than to cycle under the sheltering branches that arch over the roads or listen to the rustle of the leaves as you walk towards a church spire emerging from a mass of crimson.

Of course, the Eastern townships are as nice in the winter, covered with snow or in the spring with all the outdoor activities important to challenge the body and soothe the spirit.
