Bed and Breakfast Description

Laurel is a small town shaded by gracious canopies of live oaks now grown to full maturity. Laurel calls itself 'The City Beautiful', and it is a name well deserved.

The Laurel Inn, located in Laurel's Historic District, was built by timber baron John Bissell. Bissell personally selected all of the heart pine, and in all of its 5400 square feet, there is only one knot. The interior is elegant and graceful.

The beauty that is the Laurel Inn does not stop with the living quarters. Every room has a unique story to tell. Those stories are reflected in the architecture and appointments that make up the Inn. From the formal dining room shown at left, to the opulent living room below, there are breathtaking sights around every corner. Come and be welcome.

The Inn overlooks the beautiful Gardiner Park and is within walking distance to the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art.

The home and grounds were purchased by Kevin and Peggy O'Connell in 1998. The O'Connells have proceeded to renovate, and will continue to operate, the Inn you see now.
