Bluffton, Indiana bed and breakfast: Washington Street Inn

When you walk through the front door of the Washington Street Inn B&B, you immediately notice the excellent wood craftsmanship. From the solid cherry staircase to the two cherry trimmed fireplaces to the one chimney with a stained glass window in the middle, pride and craftsmanship are obvious. Sit on either the front or side porch and enjoy a beverage or gather on the patio in the back yard and enjoy the flowers.

This Victorian home, built in 1896, offers four bedrooms and two bathrooms located on the second floor. Guests have access to their own second floor kitchenette (full sized refrigerator, microwave, table and chairs) and sitting room filled with antiques and area attraction reading, as well as the downstairs living and dining areas, front porch, side porch, and fenced in back yard. Each bedroom has a telephone and television set. Off-street parking is available directly behind the inn.

If you want to get some exercise take a stroll on the River Greenway (only 2 blocks away), which follows the Wabash River out to the Oubache State Park, about 4 miles away. We are located only 2 blocks from the downtown area where you can get a bite to eat or perhaps do some antique shopping. For a bit of pampering an in house massage may be arranged by a professional.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Enjoy golf, swimming or tennis in the spring, summer or fall. Take a drive or walk out to the State Park and see the bison or climb the old fire tower or have a picnic. During the months of July and August, enjoy free Sunday evening concerts in the park along the Wabash River.

Take advantage of an excellent small town library, only 3 blocks away, and check out Indiana history or do genealogical research. Take a short drive (16 miles) to Berne, IN and see how the Amish live, or visit the Gene Stratton Portor museum in Geneva, only 18 miles away, and learn all about an author and a lady who was ahead of her time.

Most Popular Rooms:

The dining room show cases heirlooms and portions of the house Occupied Japan collection. Breakfast is served on gracious Old Country Rose China or American Fostoria. Here also is the living room which can be transformed for larger lunches/brunch/teas.

The sitting room offers more of the house collections, or peruse the book that contains some of the pieces belonging to the house owner. There is history to read, particulary English Royalty. There are some local interest/books/brochures.
