Bed and Breakfast Description

The Fallon Hotel and its sister, the Columbia City Hotel, are authentically restored 19th Century country inns. All rooms are elegantly appointed with Victorian antiques, custom crafted wall coverings, and beautiful lithographs.

Some of the rooms at each hotel have balconies where you can sit and enjoy the fresh air and watch the goings-on of an authentic Gold Rush Era town. Each hotel has a sitting parlour where you can peruse books and magazines, or participate in one of many board games.

While both hotels stay as faithful to 19th century decor as possible, modern conveniences such as indoor plumbing, heating, and air conditioning have been added for your comfort. Each room has a half bath and a shower basket is provided for the trip down the hall to the shared shower room.

A generous continental breakfast buffet is served in the dining room at the Columbia City Hotel Restaurant for guests of both hotels.

The Fallon Hotel complex has a long and complicated history. It is really the history of four separate structures. The current hotel building, what is now the theatre, the theatre box office and finally the ice cream parlor all have interesting and distinct histories.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Columbia State Historic Park is a year-round getaway offering a unique blend of museums, displays, town tours, live theater plays, shops, restaurants and attractions. It is one of California's best preserved gold rush towns. The City Hotel and the Fallon Hotel are Historic Country Inns of Columbia State Historic Park, in Columbia, California just three miles north of Sonora California.

The town of Columbia offers a variety of activities for visitors of all ages and interests. Columbia is located approximately an two hours northwest of Yosemite National Park and 20 minutes from Don Pedro Lake and New Melones Lake, for fishing, boating and swimming. Columbia is also close to Dodge Ridge and Bear Valley for skiing. There are several caves and caverns nearby for exploration and many wineries to visit in both Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties as well.
